The Cool Tool
October 29, 2007
Who would have thought this little item would raise so much interest? But since you asked, here’s the scoop. These are the three different styles we have come across. The key chain idea was a nice one, and the one that was free. We found the others at stores that sold music, on the counter next to the register. The blue disk on the bottom is from Ear-x-tacy in Louisville and was $1.99.

They each have an indentation which is flat and houses a blade.

The opener rides across the top of the CD. The pressure you apply causes the blade to become exposed. It then slices through the cellophane covering and the adhesive label at the same time. Then it’s just a matter of peeling the wrapper and label off.

I found one here on-line. Wish I had the patent on this gadget!

That’s a very handy little gadget there. I don’t buy too many CDs anymore cause I just download on iTunes. But, some unsigned bands and bar bands don’t have a record label so you can’t find them on iTunes.

I like to fight with the CD wrap. It is a test. My good old Uncle Henry pocket knife is up to the task … most of the time.
